bike park ride banner imageBike > Park > Ride is a great way to find your 30 minutes of exercise per day

New bike lockers now open on Flemington Road in Mitchell (opposite EPIC). To get access or to find out more about bike storage facilities please contact 13 22 81.

Bike and Ride is as an easy, environmentally friendly and healthy way to use your combine a bike ride with a bus ride to travel around the city. This active travel option will help us manage congestion, reduce energy consumption and pollution and make Canberra a cleaner, greener, better place to live today and into the future.

The ACT Government has committed $700,000 over three years as part of the Transport for Canberra budget package to construct bike and ride facilities along the rapid transport corridor network. The Commonwealth has supported this sustainable transport investment with additional funding of $255,000 in 2010 through the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.

Bike and Ride allows you to lock your bicycle in a bike cage, rail or locker during the day and transfer to a bus for the rest of your trip. You pay a normal bus fare, with no additional charge to park your bike at a bike > park > ride facility.

There are four types of bike > park > ride facilities available in the ACT:

Bike rails

Bike rails are installed at stops across the bus network, with a focus on the rapid stops for direct connections across the city. Users need to provide their own bicycle lock to secure their bike to a rail.

Bike racks on buses

Bike racks are installed on ACTION buses and allow up to two riders to place their bike on a bus. Racks are provided on most Blue Rapid services. For further information, including terms and conditions please refer to the ACTION website.
