Active Travel for Schools
Active travel is one of the easiest and most time efficient ways to ensure children receive the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
Whether it involves walking, riding a bike, scooter or skateboard, catching public transport, or even a combination of each, active travel is a fun, safe and healthy way to travel to and from school.
The Schools Transport Co-ordinator is responsible for working across government to provide an efficient and effective point of contact for school principals, parents and local residents. The Schools Transport Co-ordinator works with a number of stakeholders to deliver the Schools Program for active travel and replicate innovative solutions found to be effective in one school in other schools with similar issues.
The Schools Program for active travel focuses on initiatives around school environments to make active travel a safer, more accessible and easier form of transport for children and parents.
