Ride or Walk to School

The Ride or Walk to School and It's Your Move: Safe Cycle for High Schools initiatives are free ACT Government programs that aim to increase the number of children walking, cycling or scootering to and from school. The programs are designed to drive culture change within the school community to once again, make riding and walking to school the norm for children.

Riding or walking to school is one of the easiest and healthiest ways to commute to and from school. It is also one of the most time efficient ways to ensure children receive the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day.

The Physical Activity Foundation delivers the Ride or Walk to School and It's Your Move: Safe Cycle for High Schools programs in ACT schools and has a range of resources available – including biking equipment, teacher training, workshops and maps – to ensure the entire school community can embrace riding and walking to school.

Visit the Physical Activity Foundation website for more information, including details about how your school can join the programs and engage in active travel.
