Planning on attending Anzac Day ceremonies? Transport Canberra, together with the Australian War Memorial, will be providing FREE transport to and from the Dawn Service and the National Ceremony on Tuesday, 25 April 2017.
Pre-registering provides you with peace of mind knowing that your bus travel to either the Dawn Service or the National Ceremony is arranged. It also allows Transport Canberra to effectively manage customer demand for bus services and ensures that bus resources are used efficiently.
As Anzac Day is a public holiday, Transport Canberra buses will be operating on a Sunday timetable for other non-shuttle services throughout the day. Free services will be provided to those wearing or displaying War Service medals on any Transport Canberra service throughout the whole day. Medal holders are still required to Register to Ride to the Anzac Day ceremonies, to assist Transport Canberra in gauging expected attendance.
NOTE: Transport Canberra advises that registration tickets for these services are limited. Registering to Ride will be available from Monday 3 April 2017, and passengers are strongly encouraged to Register to Ride early.

All charter services will be wheelchair accessible.
Free Transport Canberra buses to the Dawn Service will depart from major bus stations at Gungahlin, Belconnen, Woden and Tuggeranong. Alternatively park your car and catch a loop shuttle bus that will operate from Majura Park Shopping Centre, Russell Offices, Canberra Centre (Ainslie Avenue) and the City Bus Station.
Return shuttles will commence from the drop off locations after the Dawn Service.

Please arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to departure and present your ticket(s) in either electronic or paper form to Transport Canberra. This will ensure that passengers are boarded ready for the advertised departure time.
By Registering to Ride you are selecting to ride with Transport Canberra buses which include both seated and standing positions on the bus. Please note that passengers are not guaranteed a seat for travel. Transport Canberra advises that registration tickets for this service are limited.

Why do I need to register for a free service?
The Anzac Day Dawn Service and National Ceremony are well attended commemorative ceremonies where parking and road closures in and around the Australian War Memorial are restricted on the day. Transport Canberra, together with the Australian War Memorial, provide free bus services to assist in reducing these pressures. Transport Canberra has a registration process to assist in gauging expected attendance and to assist passengers in preparing for their travels.
Does registering to ride guarantee me a seat on the bus?
By registering to ride passengers are selecting to ride with Transport Canberra buses to the Anzac Day Dawn Service and/or National Ceremony. This includes both seated and standing positions on the bus.
Is Register to Ride only for the Anzac Day Dawn Service?
No. If passengers are considering attending either the Dawn Service or the National Ceremony, they will need to Register to Ride. If passengers are intending on going to both ceremonies they will need to register separately for each event. Please note that free chartered services will not be running from major bus stations for the National Ceremony.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
On the day, passengers will need to arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to departure and present their printed or electronic ticket to Transport Canberra staff at the selected event pick up location.
Are tickets to the event unlimited?
Bus services to the Anzac Day Dawn Service and National Ceremony are limited. Registering to Ride will be available from Monday 3 April 2017, in which passengers are strongly encouraged to Register to Ride to the event.
NOTE: Buses will depart at the advertised time. Passengers are advised to arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to departure to ensure that boarding is complete. Tickets are not transferable for other locations/times.
Is there a limit on how many tickets an individual can Register to Ride to either service?
Passengers are able to Register to Ride for up to 10 tickets in any single registration for either ceremony.
What if I don't have access to the internet to register?
Contact 13 17 10 and you will be registered over the phone. A copy of the ticket/s will be sent to your nominated mailing address.
What if I arrive on the day without registering?
Transport Canberra cannot guarantee that there will be available space to board the bus if passengers have not registered to use the free service. If there is no room to board, passengers will need to make alternative arrangements. We strongly recommend booking early.
Do I need to bring/produce my MyWay card?
No, these services are free and therefore you will not need to produce your MyWay card.
Are the buses accessible?
Yes, every bus will be easy access for both the Dawn Service and the National Ceremony.
