The intent of Canberra Walk and Ride Week is to:
During the week (and at other times too), all Canberrans are encouraged to walk, ride and catch public transport as often as possible for any journey purpose, whether it’s your commute to school, to work, to a meeting or appointment during the day, to a social outing, to the shops on the weekend, or to one of our events.
Walking and riding as a mode of transport helps to keep you fit and healthy, provides a sense of happiness, health and wellbeing, contributes to a more liveable city and connects you with your local community.
