About the project

The ACT Government is building light rail to Woden. We are investing in our city’s future by ensuring Canberra is a more connected, sustainable and vibrant city.

Light rail to Woden is Canberra’s biggest ever infrastructure build. The construction of Light Rail to Woden is part of the ACT government’s $14 billion Infrastructure Plan that will support thousands of local jobs and support our city’s economic recovery and we want to involve Canberrans in an ongoing conversation about how we deliver it.

Next steps

To enable the future light rail construction, early works will be undertaken until mid-2022. While early works take place, the ACT Government is continuing to develop the light rail to Woden project design and prepare the project approval documentation.

The early works involves translocating the Golden Sun Moths, setting up construction site compounds and moving critical water and communication utility assets from their current position along the southern section of London Circuit, to a new alignment via Edinburgh Avenue, Vernon Circle and Constitution Avenue.
