New bus fares from 20 January 2018

From Saturday 20 January 2018, fares for bus travel in the ACT will increase by up to 2.6 percent, with cash fares increasing between 10 and 20 cents. This fare increase is consistent with increases in the previous two years, and will help offset the cost of significant public transport improvements underway in Canberra, as well as increased operational costs.

Cash Fares

Transport Canberra accepts cash fares for travel. Passengers can purchase a single or daily cash ticket on board the bus from the driver. All single fares entitle passengers to a free 90 minute transfer period. This enables you to connect to a different bus using the same ticket if within 90 minutes of purchasing your ticket. Daily tickets are valid until midnight on the day of purchase.

For adults, a standard fare applies for single trip and daily tickets. Concession fares apply to valid concession card holders and students.

You can save on your travel costs by travelling with a MyWay card.

Cash Fares for AdultsFare
Single trip (with free 90 minute transfer) $4.90
Daily $9.40
Cash Fares for Concession Card holders and StudentsFare
Single trip (with free 90 minute transfer) $2.40

All prices include GST.

Paying with exact change for a fare is preferred. Change can be given in most instances, depending on the amount of change available. Passengers may be refused entry if the driver is unable to provide change for large note denominations.
