Learn to Ride Centres

Learn to Ride Centre

The ACT government has recently opened two learn to ride centres in Canberra. The first, in Tuggeranong at Greenway Park opened in March 2017, with the Belconnen learn to ride centre opening in June 2017 at Lake Ginninderra.

Both centres provide a practical environment for parents, schools and community groups to train children learning to ride a bicycle. They have the look and feel of a real road environment and are a safe space for young cyclists to learn riding skills.

The learn to ride centres include everything you would expect to see out in our suburbs, such as footpaths, pedestrian crossings, line markings and road signs.

The centres are intended for children from preschool to year 4 and provide a non-threatening and fun environment where kids can learn all the basics from how to safely cross the road through to independent and confident riding on their own bike. They are also suitable for children with broad ranging skills and needs, including children with additional needs.

The centres are an open park environment available for daytime use 7 days a week which are free of charge.
