Rethink your routine - it’s time to leave the car at home

With the cost of living going up and climate change getting worse, there’s no better time to change up your commute. Using public transport, walking, riding or scooting is a great way to build better habits. You can save on parking while reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

You don’t need a bus stop right outside your house to make the switch. There are so many convenient ways to use public transport, walk, ride or scoot. It’s easier than you think!

Whether you are new to public transport or a seasoned traveller, we have everything you need to get started or back into the groove. See our Canberra regional guides for public transport, cycling and walking maps.

Getting to work looks a little different for everyone. As workplaces become more flexible it is easy to try leaving the car at home once or twice a week. It’s better for the planet and better for your bank balance.

If dropping the kids off to school and catching the bus seems like an impossible task, why not try half half! Drop the kids off, park your car at a nearby Park and Ride and hop on a bus or light rail. It’s a convenient option to save on parking and petrol.

Our Rapid services run every 15 minutes between 7am and 7pm on weekdays. You’ll get some much needed ‘me time’ where you can zone out to your favourite podcast and let us do the driving.

Riding a bike is a great way to get exercise and save money on parking and petrol. If you can’t ride the whole way, try riding part way, leave your bike at a Bike and Ride, and hop on public transport. You can even take your bike with you by using the bus bike racks or taking them on board light rail vehicles.
