Transport Canberra is providing free travel for all Seniors Card holders from Monday 18 to Sunday 24 March 2019.
If you are a holder of the following cards you are entitled to free travel:
ACT Seniors MyWay Card
If you have an ACT Seniors MyWay Card then tap on and off as usual, but your journey will be free of charge.
MyWay Interstate Seniors Card
If you have a MyWay Interstate Seniors Card then tap on and off as usual, but your journey will be free of charge.
Interstate Seniors Card
If you don’t have a MyWay Card but hold an Interstate Seniors Card, then just show the driver your card and your ride will be on us!

Seniors Week Expo at Exhibition Park in Canberra
On Thursday 21March, COTA will be holding their Seniors Week Expo at EPIC.
FREE Shuttle to EPIC
A free shuttle service to the Seniors Expo will be available on Thursday 21 March 2019. Shuttles will depart from:
- Westfield Belconnen Bus Station (Platform 1)
- Belconnen Community Bus Station (Platform 3)
- Tuggeranong Bus Station (Platform 9)
- Woden Bus Station (Platform 10)
- City (Bus stop 3002 on the corner of London Cct and East row, outside Mooseheads) and will continue through to EPIC.
The shuttles will run from 9:30am through to 1:15pm, please refer to below timetable for pick up times and locations.
Return Shuttle Services
Free return shuttle services from the Seniors Expo will return to the City, Woden Bus Station, Tuggeranong Bus Station, Westfield Belconnen Bus Station, Belconnen Community Bus Station commencing at 10:15am with the last shuttle departing EPIC at 1:45pm.

Free senior and concession off-peak bus travel
Eligible senior and concession holders who travel using MyWay are able to take advantage of the free senior and concession off-peak bus travel which are: between
9:00am - 4.30pm and after 6:00pm weekdays and all day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
To take advantage of free travel you just need to tap on and tap off the bus correctly using your MyWay card during the stated off-peak periods. Passengers will need to ensure that their MyWay cards are in positive balance. Failure to tap off correctly will result in passengers being charged the default fare. Your journey must commence by MyWay tap on, during the off-peak period.

What to do if I have an ACT Seniors MyWay Card?
Tap on and off the bus as usual with your ACT Seniors MyWay Card. However, no fare will be deducted for travel between Monday 18 March and Sunday 24 March 2019. Failure to tap on or off correctly may results in a default fare being incurred.
What to do if I don’t have a ACT Seniors MyWay Card?
For seniors without a ACT Seniors MyWay Card simply show your Seniors Card to the driver as you board on a Transport Canberra bus, and your trip is on us.
Isn’t travel on Transport Canberra buses free for over 70’s already?
Travel is free for holders of an ACT Seniors MyWay Over 70s card. To qualify for free travel, you can apply for an ACT Seniors MyWay card. If you are over 70, a permanent resident of the ACT and working 20 hours a week or less in paid employment.
Free off-peak travel for ACT Seniors
ACT Seniors MyWay Card holders and some concession MyWay card holders are eligible for free off peak travel. To qualify for an ACT Seniors Card you only need to be over 61 years of age and not in paid employment for over 20 hours a week.
Am I eligible for a MyWay Seniors Card?
If you are over 61, a permanent resident of the ACT and working 20 hours or less each week you are eligible for a Seniors Card.

How do I get an ACT MyWay Seniors Card?
Application forms for an ACT MyWay Seniors Card are available from:
- Access Canberra Service Centres;
- ACT Public Libraries;
- Or Council on the Ageing Office, Hughes Community Centre, Hughes.
Please note applications are not available online. Your application will be witnessed by the shopfront, library or COTA staff, then you will be issued with a new ACT Seniors Card and the current ACT Seniors Card Directory.
What details are needed for my application?
When completing an application form, you are required to provide proof of age and residency. Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Proof of Age: Drivers Licence, Birth Certificate or Extract, Australian Passport
- Proof of Residency: Drivers Licence, ACT Government Invoice, Bank Papers, DSS Pension or DVA Pension Card
I have a Seniors Card from interstate, so can I still apply for a MyWay Card?
Yes, Seniors Card holders from other states and territories in Australia can apply for an Interstate Seniors MyWay card. Interstate MyWay card holders receive the same concession fare as ACT Seniors and MyWay pension card holders and are able to travel for free during off peak times as part of an ACT Government trial. Interstate card holders are not eligible for the over 70s free travel. Interstate Seniors Card holders can also show the bus driver their Seniors Card and purchase a cash concession fare.
Interstate Seniors MyWay cards can be applied for in advance from COTA ACT. To apply, email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, date of birth and address, and include a scanned copy of your Seniors Card and Drivers Licence / Proof of Identity card. An Interstate Seniors MyWay card will then be mailed to you.

- Canberra and Region Visitors Centre, National Exhibition Centre, Regatta Point
- COTA ACT office (Hughes Community Centre, 2 Wisdom St Hughes)

What happens if I lose my card?
ACT Seniors MyWay Card balances can be transferred to a new ACT Seniors Card if the card is lost, stolen or damaged.
How do I get to the Seniors Expo at EPIC?
Catch a FREE bus shuttle. The shuttle will run every 30 minutes between 9am and 3pm. Services will depart Tuggeranong Bus Station (Platform 9), Woden Bus Station (Platform 10), City Bus Station (stop 3002, on the corner of London Cct and East row, outside Mooseheads), Belconnen Community Bus Station (Platform 3) and Westfield Belconnen Bus Station (Platform 1).
