Meet the eyes and ears of the Transport Canberra bus network

Meet Glen and Keith, who are part of Transport Canberra’s Communications Centre team, the eyes and ears of our bus network. They are the first point of contact for the bus drivers to provide any assistance such as bus break downs, hazards on the road and even helping with lost kids. Their job is to react quickly in situations to ensure they are well managed.

Glen is a Communications Officer and has worked with Transport Canberra for 9 years. The most rewarding part of his job is “solving complicated problems quickly and efficiently. Every problem is time sensitive including complex problems such as significant collisions and light rail replacements. Ensuring we get a good outcome is rewarding. If we do our job right no one will even notice there is a disruption”.

Keith is a Communications Officer and has worked with Transport Canberra for 34 years. “I enjoy the challenge and enjoy the rewarding aspects when things go right. When things first start off pear shaped everyone clicks into gear and knows their role in the team. A lot of work happens very quickly behind the scenes to make sure everything is as smooth as possible”.

The ideal solution to any of the problems they face is that passengers will notice little impact on their travel journey. The most rewarding aspect of the job is solving complicated and time sensitive problems efficiently and ensuring it has a positive outcome.

Thank you both for all your hard work!
