On this page:

MyWay+ calculates the cheapest possible fare per passenger, based on any eligible concession and daily or monthly fare caps.

All Transport Canberra fares include a free 90-minute transfer period so you can connect to different bus or light rail services using the same ticket for free within 90 minutes of first validation.

Free travel is available for some passengers such as children 5 and under (not attending school) and ACT seniors over 70. Check concession eligibility.

Don’t forget to tap off, or you’ll be charged a default fare which is the maximum possible fare for your trip.

Please note: During the transition period, default fares are not being applied as we are taking an educative approach to help the community and our workforce adjust to the new system. We will notify the community in advance when default fares resume.

Default fares for MyWay+

When travelling on Transport Canberra services you are required to tap on and tap off with your preferred method of payment (even if your travel is free).

When tapping off it is important to use the same method, e.g. the same Mastercard or Visa, the QR code in app or the MyWay+ travel card. If you forget to tap off or use a different method at the end of your trip your journey will be incomplete and you will be charged a default fare.

Please note: During the transition period, default fares are not being applied as we are taking an educative approach to help the community and our workforce adjust to the new system. We will notify the community in advance when default fares resume.

Auto top up discounts on MyWay+

An auto top up can be set up in your MyWay+ account via the MyWay+ app or online. Passengers who set up auto top up(direct debit) are eligible for a 5% discount on their individual trip fares. The discount is applied automatically once the recharge payment has been processed.

The 5% discount is determined by the last payment method. For example, when an auto top up payment is processed, any trips taken after this payment will have the 5% discount applied. Should another payment method be received and processed (e.g. tapping on with a Mastercard or Visa) the 5% discount will not be applied.

Please note that the 5% discount is only applicable to individual trip fares. The discount does not apply to daily fare caps.

Infringements
