Concession information
For general information see concessions or select an option below.
Register your concession in your MyWay+ account
Register your concession in your MyWay+ account to receive the correct fare, including discounted or free travel. Check your concession eligibility above.
You can select your concession type when setting up your MyWay+ account. If you already have a MyWay+ account, you can update your concession status. To do this, select ‘Register concession’ on the menu. Select ‘Concession’ under Fare Type, and then ‘select your concession type’ from the list. Press the ‘Submit’ button.
In your MyWay+ account you can link various methods to tap on and off. Link a contactless payment method (Mastercard or Visa) or a MyWay+ travel card so you receive the correct fare discounts (or free travel) no matter what method you tap on and off with.
You can also order a MyWay+ travel card through your MyWay+ account. Once you set up your account, you can set your concession and order a travel card which will have your concession applied.
You will receive an email reminder to update and revalidate your concession 15 days before your concession expires. Accounts where concessions are not revalidated will revert to a standard adult account.

Concession expiry
Concession expiry periods:
- Student (primary and secondary): 31 March of the year following purchase*
- Tertiary: 31 March of the year following purchase
- Senior: 3 years from the date of validation, including seniors over 70
- All other concessions: 31 March of the year following purchase
Please be reminded that most MyWay+ concessions automatically expired on 30 June 2026, except for ACT Seniors. If you missed this update or need to continue receiving concession fares, please read the options below or call 13 17 10 for assistance. |
Important: Concession status is set to expire based on predefined time periods. It is your responsibility to provide an active and accurate concession type with a valid proof of concession when travelling with Transport Canberra.
If you have a MyWay+ account, you can update your MyWay+ concession status in your MyWay+ account a week prior to expiry. Your account will revert to a standard adult account if the concession status is not updated.
If your concession expires and you have an unregistered MyWay+ travel card, you can:
- Create a MyWay+ account and link your existing card allowing you to keep your balance, receive expiry reminders and reapply your concession online at any time. Once your concession is revalidated through your account, the concession fare will apply to all linked payment methods.
- Purchase a new MyWay+ travel card (card fee applies) with your concession applied and travel anonymously using the new MyWay+ travel card at the concession fare. You will need to purchase a new discounted or free MyWay+ travel card (depends on your concession eligibility) at a MyWay+ retail outlet each time your card expires.
- Keep using your current card but you will be charged a full adult fare and won’t receive expiry reminders. Concessions cannot be reapplied to unregistered cards.
