Some full-time students are eligible for free travel Monday to Friday during the school term under the student transport program.

MyWay+ account

A MyWay+ account offers personalised and convenient travel management. In your MyWay+ account you can:

  • order a MyWay+ travel card
  • transfer your old MyWay travel credit
  • use a MyWay+ travel card or contactless payment method (Mastercard or Visa), linked to your MyWay+ account
  • register a student concession for discounted travel
  • view your travel and transaction history
  • customise your real time journey notifications in the MyWay+ app.

Important note: When setting up a MyWay+ account for a student, the account must be in the student’s name not their parent or carer. The eligible concession must also be in the student’s name. Each MyWay+ user needs their own unique email address to secure their account through multi-factor authentication.

Once you have a MyWay+ account you will receive an email 15 days before your concession is set to expire, reminding you to update or revalidate your concession. Your account will revert to a standard adult account if the concession is not revalidated.

In early 2025, primary account holders (e.g. parent or carer) will also be able to link multiple accounts in order to manage secondary accounts. We will be providing more information on this in the new year.

MyWay+ travel card

You can also purchase a MyWay+ travel card with a student concession from a MyWay+ retail outlet and then link it to your MyWay+ account. If you choose not to link it to a MyWay+ account, you will travel anonymously and need to add travel credit to the card for when you travel.

Secondary (high school and college) and tertiary (university) students must provide proof of concession (i.e. student ID card) at time of purchase.
