Shared e-scooters

Shared e-scooters are a convenient option for short trips on their own or combined with public transport. They also assist Canberra’s economy through providing employment and encouraging travel to local businesses.

Neuron Mobility operates e-scooter hire across Canberra. For more details see the shared e-scooters map. Please check the provider’s app to see where the e-scooters can be used.

The scheme has proven very popular with about 2,800 trips per day taken since it began in September 2020 – that’s over 3.6 million completed trips.

You must follow the road rules when using shared e-scooters. Wear a helmet, adhere to speed limits and park the e-scooter safely. Please see the e-scooters and mobility devices page for more information.

How to use shared e-scooters safely

  • Wear a helmet. All shared e-scooters come with a helmet.
  • Don't drive under the influence. Riding under the influence of drugs or alcohol is dangerous and illegal. Catch public transport, call a lift or walk home.
  • Mobile phones. Don’t use your phone while operating an e-scooter.
  • One person per scooter. You must not carry any passengers.
  • Give way. You must give way to other pedestrians and keep to the left. It is the responsibility of all users to share the footpath and road and be mindful of other users.
  • Ride to the conditions. There are speed limits in different places, but sometimes you need to go slower. Use your judgment.
  • Park sensibly. Park your e-scooter off the main path and away from stairs, ramps, light rail stops, bus stops and entry or exit ways.
