For all passengers travelling on Fare free Fridays using a single use ticket, please do not scan on and off when using Transport Canberra bus and light rail services until further notice. This is to ensure you do not activate your ticket on Fridays. You can still tap or scan on and off using a bank card, MyWay+ card or in-app QR code. No fares will be charged. For more information see using paper tickets on Fare free Fridays.

Walking in Canberra - Walking is good for the mind and body

Can you get more walking into your routine? It is a great way to duck down to the shops, get to your local school or pop in to see a neighbour. Walking helps us connect with our community and get regular exercise which are both good for the body and the mind.

Canberra has an established network of 3,800 km of paths, as well as urban design that supports walking for all ages and abilities. Monitoring and maintaining the network is a huge task. If you see a problem, report it to Fix My Street. The ACT Government makes future improvements on an ongoing basis such as:

In Canberra we share our paths between people on foot, on bikes, in wheelchairs and scooters. People on bikes and scooters need to give way to people on foot and people on foot can help by behaving in a predictable way. We all need to be aware of our surroundings and look out for each other.
